There are over 2000 known species of Native Bees in Australia but only 11 known species live in a colony with a Queen and a hive. The rest are Solitary Bees. Solitary Bees do not produce honey but they are essential for pollinating our Australian native flora.
Our Native Solitary Bee Hotels are an artificial nest where solitary bees will come and deposit pollen/nectar and eggs before sealing off the entrance with either leaf, resin or sometimes clay/mud. These Bee Hotels will increase pollination activity in your garden by boosting local native solitary bee populations and help you grow a 'pollinating powerhouse' for your garden and local bush areas.
Creating a flower abundant garden will attract and bring in more species of solitary native bees. Different varieties of plants will bring in different species of bees. Solitary bees play a vital role in pollinating our native flora and are also increasingly being valued as a pollinator for agricultural crops.
