WelcomeTo The World Of Native Solitary Bees

Our Solitary Bee Hotels are an artificial nest where solitary bees will come and deposit pollen/nectar and eggs before sealing off the entrance with either leaf, resin or sometimes clay/mud.

These Bee Hotels will increase pollination activity in your garden by boosting local native solitary bee populations.

Solitary Bees do not produce honey but they are essential for pollinating our Australian native flora.

There are over 2000 known species of Native Bees in Australia, but only 11 known species live in a colony with a Queen and a hive.  The rest are Solitary Bees.

Most bees, including huge carpenter bees, resin bees and leaf cutter bees, of which there are many species, are solitary in the sense that every female is fertile, and typically inhabits a nest she constructs herself. There is no division of labor so these nests lack queens and worker bees for these species.

Pollinating Your Garden And Local Native Flora

Creating a flower abundant garden will attract and bring in more species of solitary native bees.  Different varieties of plants will bring in different species of bees.

Just place your Bee Hotel in a semi sheltered area and especially, place  where they can be viewed and enjoyed.

Bees love to search for spots under the eaves of your house.  Verandahs or patios are perfect. They are non-aggressive and quite docile.

Solitary bees play a vital role in pollinating our native flora and are also increasingly being valued as a pollinator for agricultural crops.

Our Bee Hotels are proudly built by Jim Budd in Brisbane, Australia.

Bring the bees back into your life!
